Graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in May 19, 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a dual minor in Psychology and Spanish. Fluently speaks, read and writes Spanish.

Served in the United States Navy as a naval and airborne communicator. Subsequently transferred to the United States Army Reserves and served as an accredited CID Special Agent in the Army Criminal Investigation Command.

Recruited by the U.S. Marshal’s Service after graduating from Mira Costa College Police Academy in Oceanside, CA. Began federal criminal investigative service on April 1, 1973 in Fort Worth, Texas. Performed general investigative assignments from 1973 through 1978. Assisted in establishing the United States Marshal’s formal fugitive program in 1978.

Promoted to Enforcement Inspector in May of 1980 and to Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal in March 1985. Transferred to the Western District of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. Received specialized training in all facets of fugitive investigations. Worked with municipal, county and state officials on detention, incarceration, and contractual issues. Supervised and managed numerous highly successful multi-agency fugitive operations.

Relocated to the Northern District of Texas at Dallas in November 1987 and supervised all facets of federal asset forfeiture programs; asset research, seizures, taxation issues, financial thresholds, asset sharing, and property disposal. Conducted and supervised numerous criminal investigations, executed arrests, testified in federal court and before federal grand juries, conducted program review audits, and streamlined agency’s investigative files process securing permission from the National Archives and Records Administration for electronically storing files and records as well as reducing retention period by 25 years.

Promoted to Assistant Chief Deputy United States Marshal September 1998. Appointed to the Executive Board for the North Texas HIDTA, appointed and served on the Director’s Career Board, Team Leader for Department of Justice’s E-Learning Initiative, and appointed to the United States Marshals Service Internet and Intranet Steering Committee. Completed 12-month Office of Personnel Management’s Executive Potential Program for selected federal managers from all government agencies.

Received numerous letters of recognition, yearly performance awards, and special recognition by earning the 1993 Director’s Distinguished Service Award for exemplary performance. Obtained and retained top secret clearance in military service and throughout federal criminal investigative career.

Retired from the United States Marshals Service June 1, 2004 as an Assistant Chief Deputy United States Marshal with over 31 years of federal criminal investigative experience.
